Millennials rejecting religion?

In recent studies performed by the Public Religion Research Institute and Berkley Center for Religion and Peace, more and more STUDENTS are moving away from religion and becoming unaffiliated. Some of their main reasons for leaving are: Christianity is too judgemental, the students feel like Christianity has become too stringent and angry towards people in general.

Interesting facts from the study:

Only 23% of respondents felt that the Bible is the word of God. This is a move in the right direction, education takes the blinders off and the students start to see religion for what it is.

6 in 10 respondents feel that religion is "judgemental" and "Anti-Gay". It is, nice of you all to see it.

Less than 1/2 of the respondents list any religious affiliation on their facebook page or anywhere else.

Maybe, moving forward into the future, these millennials will lead the way to a more secular world where science and fact trump fear and superstition.

We can only hope.

  1. That's great news! We can only hope, but I do think we will start seeing a huge trend of atheists and non-believers!

  2. I think so too. It's nice to see that the educated people are starting to question religion and starting to see it for what it is..
